Replacement teeth that mimic nature

When you think about your teeth, you probably only think about the part that you chew with, the bit above the gum line that you can see. But below the gums are your tooth roots and they are every bit as important as your crowns if your teeth are going to function well.

Dental Implants in WindsorAsk anyone who has lost a tooth to gum disease about the importance of tooth roots and they will describe to you how disheartening it was to experience their otherwise healthy teeth gradually coming loose in their sockets, diminishing their food choices as their teeth could no longer cope with so much chewing.

If you need to replace lost teeth, don’t just think about how you need to get great looking crowns, also think about replacing the roots so that you can chew properly again.

At The Old Windsor Dental Practice, we recommend dental implants in Windsor for people who are losing their teeth. Dental implants are the only way there is to replace the root of the tooth as well as the crown.

How dental implants in Windsor work

Dental implants come in 3 parts. The actual implant replaces the root of the tooth. It is a tapered screw or post about 1cm long that we put into specially created channels in your jawbone. Once the implant is in place, the titanium from which it is made will set off a process of fusion with the bone, which will grow new tissue all over its surface. Depending on your individual healing speed, this takes 2-6 months to complete.

Once the integration process is over, we can attach your crowns. We do this by first putting in a connecting piece and then adding the crowns to that.

Dental implants are very versatile. We can put up to 3 crowns on a bridge onto one implant. They are also very long-lasting. If you take good care of your dental implants in Windsor, you can expect them to last for at least 15 years and probably even decades.
